Women's Training Suffers Temporary Set-Back

The training of the Broome Soccer Association's women's squad for the upcoming match against Newman has suffered a temporary set-back, with Kimberley Cup winning manager Ryan Platten having to sit out a training session because of an urgent meeting (possibly with the FFA for a spot with the Australian squad that will go to the World Cup next year).

With Platten out for the week, Technical Director Mike Doyle will step in and don the coach's tracksuit to continue the session.

Time will tell if this switch will have a negative effect on the ladies who are trying desperately to gel as a squad. Doyle is unproven as a manager, and it remains to be seen if he will be the new Paul Ince, ploughing his team into the relegation quagmire, or the new Roy Keane, leading his team to low mid-table results before taking his ball and going home.

One light at the end of the tunnel will be the return of championship winning Platten to the team next week to steady the ship after Doyle's rocky one week reign.

    I agree Doyle still has too much to offer on the field to go into coaching so soon. Although i'm sure he'd be more than up to the task. Don't know about letting Platten near any squad let alone the Australian one though. Speaking of which, Doyle should be captaining the Socceroos - that Lucas Neill has nothing on him.

    Rumour has it that Doyle may not even be available for the Broome-Newman game due to photoshoot commitments for “Bond” singlets!

    Unfortunately Doyle's non-negotiable contract with Hagans Hero's for the duration of his natural life does not allow any trans-league participation, so we will not be seeing an international career in the near future...
