Committee Launches "Call the Ref, Ref" Campaign

The Broome Soccer Association is very committed to the ongoing education of the footballing public. Incensed by years of Australians calling the referee "umpire", the committee has decided to take a stand against this blatant lack of respect for the beautiful game.

Headed by President Mike Doyle, the campaign will be fining members of the Association who continue to refer to the referee as "umpire". So far, several committee members have been responsible for this footballing faux pas and have been fined accordingly.

I have it on good authority that BSA Secretary Monique Ellis and Treasurer Tim Gray are both high on the fine stakes, while President Doyle is on a witch hunt to slander my name as much as he can.

Latest fines are:

Ellis: $3585
Gray: $25
Platten: $5 (although this has been brought up in the Court of Appeals)
